MHC’s Write On! program is designed for young adults who want to find their voice and share their truth. Participants leave Write On! with advanced writing and storytelling skills, new ways to cope in times of emotional distress, and the confidence to share their story with others.

Thanks to the generous and ongoing support from Macy’s, MHC will offer a virtual Write On! class in early 2023, specifically for LGBTQ+ young adults (ages 18-25) who are Connecticut residents.

Inequity harms mental health. So, while being LGBTQ+ is absolutely NOT a mental illness, LGBTQ+ folks often face unique mental health challenges primarily due to facing stigma, discrimination, and bias in many forms.

MHC’s Write On! program has been effective in providing a safe environment to break the negative impacts of self-stigma; a common barrier that prevents individuals from reaching out, staying connected, and finding support.

“MHC is thrilled to be able to offer an LGBTQ+ focused class and to make the announcement during Pride month, a time to honor and lift the voices of the LGBTQ+ community. Thank you to Macy’s for your ongoing support,” – Luis B. Pérez, LCSW, President and CEO, Mental Health Connecticut.
