In today’s fast-paced world, prioritizing mental health and wellness is paramount. Yet, traditional approaches to self-care often overlook the transformative power of creativity. At MHC, we believe in the power of creative expression. With initiatives like “Moving Stories” and “Write On! Discover Your Inner Writer,” MHC is fostering a holistic approach to mental wellbeing that empowers individuals to explore their creativity while nurturing their mental health.

Moving Stories: Healing Through Art and Movement

Imagine a space where individuals who have experienced trauma or mental health conditions can find solace and empowerment through art and movement. That’s precisely what Moving Stories offers. In partnership with the Justice Dance Performance Project (JDPP), MHC has curated an arts workshop that utilizes evidence-based approaches to promote mental wellness. Through a blend of physical expression, visual arts, writing exercises, and group activities, Moving Stories cultivates a sense of wellbeing and connection among participants.

Classes will be held at the Hispanic Health Council Family Wellness Center in Hartford. Open to individuals aged 16-25, this workshop is provided free of cost.

Write On! Discover Your Inner Writer: Unleashing Creative Potential

For LGBTQ+ young adults aged 14-18, MHC offers “Write On! Discover Your Inner Writer.” This six-week virtual workshop is designed to ignite the spark of creativity within participants. Led by experienced facilitators, the program guides budding writers through the process of storytelling while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Through weekly Zoom sessions, participants embark on a journey of self-discovery and skill development. From crafting compelling narratives to honing their writing routines, attendees are equipped with the tools they need to express themselves authentically.
