MHC Supports State Inquiry into Killingly High School

On Wednesday, the Connecticut Board of Education voted unanimously to open an official inquiry into the Killingly Board of Education (BOE). This drastic step by the state is the result of formal complaints made by Killingly residents who claim that the Killingly BOE violated the educational interests of the state after the board voted against the creation of a grant-funded mental health clinic at the local high school.

Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) strongly supports the decision made by the state to further investigate this serious matter which, if not properly addressed, could set a dangerous precedent in Connecticut, and beyond. MHC urges towns, legislators, and community leaders to do their part in ensuring that all CT students’ mental well-being is prioritized at a time when it is needed most.
