Legacy Bequests

  • Making legacy bequests or including gifts to charity in your will is a meaningful way to leave a lasting impact. It allows individuals to support causes they care about beyond their lifetime, ensuring their values and passions continue to make a difference. Legacy bequests can take various forms, such as a specific dollar amount, a percentage of an estate, or assets like property or stocks. This type of giving can also provide significant tax benefits, reducing the taxable estate and benefiting heirs.
  • To make a legacy bequest to Mental Health Connecticut, it’s essential to consult with a legal or financial advisor to ensure the bequest is structured correctly and reflects your wishes. By thoughtfully planning your estate, you can create a legacy that endures, supporting the work and programs of Mental Health Connecticut long into the future. To discuss this further, contact the Senior Director of Advancement.

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution of funds from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to a qualified charitable organization, such as Mental Health Connecticut. Because the gift goes directly to the charity without passing through your hands, the dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $111,000 annually, with some exceptions.  Please consult your tax advisor for information regarding your specific exceptions.

Time is running out to support our Winter Wellness Campaign! Your donation helps us provide essential mental health resources and expand access to care for individuals in need. Let’s come together to ensure no one has to face winter’s challenges alone.

While our Winter Wellness Campaign is coming to a close, our toolkit will be available on our website all winter long as we continue to embrace warmth, connection, and wellness.

Across the country, nonprofits are being stretched to their limits. But the need? It hasn’t gone anywhere. Your donation today, may be the housing referral that helps someone get through another week. The in-home mental health support that keeps someone safe. The only meal they’ll eat all day. The difference between crisis or care. Every dollar changes lives. Every dollar is a lifeline.

Your donation will enable us to provide mental health services, including therapy, in-home support, and case management, to low-income individuals and individuals experiencing homelessness.
