Winter Wellness Toolkit

Looking for ways to stay grounded, cozy, and connected this season? Our Winter Wellness Toolkit is filled with information, activities, resources, and inspiration to support your mental health. A big thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, whose generosity helps provide this resource to our community.

To celebrate the launch, we are hosting weekly raffle drawings throughout the season. Download the toolkit for a chance to win prizes like theater tickets, museum passes, craft workshops, and cozy winter experiences.

Winners are chosen every Friday at 12 PM while supplies last (limit one prize per person). Simply download the toolkit, then scan the QR code on page two to enter. Download the toolkit here.

Why Winter Wellness Matters

Winter can be tough for many people, with more anxiety during the holidays, feelings of loneliness from being more isolated, and seasonal changes affecting mood. MHC’s Winter Wellness Toolkit provides useful resources to help manage Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), holiday stress, loneliness, and the emotional struggles many experience during the colder months.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, down, or simply need a boost, the toolkit provides practical strategies and resources to help you re-center, reconnect, and care for yourself.

Body, Mind & Community

MHC promotes whole-person wellness, and the Winter Wellness Toolkit takes a holistic approach that reflects how many of us, including those who find comfort in creativity and community, view mental well-being.

  • Creative & mindful self-care — The toolkit offers suggestions for grounding practices, including journaling, mindfulness, creative outlets, and reflective rituals, to help manage anxiety and build resilience.
  • Connection & community support — Winter can intensify feelings of loneliness, especially for those living alone or apart from loved ones. The toolkit encourages reaching out: connecting with friends, participating in community events, or finding someone to talk to, because facing this season together often makes it easier.
  • Practical support & resources — MHC ensures the toolkit isn’t just about “tips,” but about access: providing guidance on connecting with professional help, support services, and community-based wellness resources, especially for those who may face barriers related to cost, transportation, or stigma.

This year’s Winter Wellness Toolkit also features two new key additions. First, our new Technology & Mental Health section encourages readers to assess their digital habits, set healthier boundaries, and use technology in ways that support, rather than hinder, their well-being. We’ve also included a two-page Financial Wellness segment from our Presenting Sponsor, Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, offering practical tools to reduce money-related stress, manage holiday expenses, and build healthier financial routines.

We hope you’ll use the toolkit to establish routines that boost your mental health and help manage your stress, seasonal sadness, and loneliness. And don’t forget to share it with friends, family members, and neighbors. Happy Holidays!

Time is running out to support our Winter Wellness Campaign! Your donation helps us provide essential mental health resources and expand access to care for individuals in need. Let’s come together to ensure no one has to face winter’s challenges alone.

While our Winter Wellness Campaign is coming to a close, our toolkit will be available on our website all winter long as we continue to embrace warmth, connection, and wellness.

Across the country, nonprofits are being stretched to their limits. But the need? It hasn’t gone anywhere. Your donation today, may be the housing referral that helps someone get through another week. The in-home mental health support that keeps someone safe. The only meal they’ll eat all day. The difference between crisis or care. Every dollar changes lives. Every dollar is a lifeline.

Your donation will enable us to provide mental health services, including therapy, in-home support, and case management, to low-income individuals and individuals experiencing homelessness.
