This past weekend, runners, volunteers, and community members came together to accomplish something extraordinary: the 2025 Cross-Connecticut Run for Mental Health. Step by step, mile by mile, participants carried not only the mission of Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) across our state but also a message of hope, resilience, and solidarity.
The route of the Cross-Connecticut Run began at the northern end of FCT in West Suffield, CT, and followed the FCT for about 57 miles to its endpoint at the harbor in New Haven, CT. The course was scenic and flat, very flat, and allowed runners to enjoy rural, suburban, and urban areas throughout the state. Each participant received a digital map to mark key mile markers and locations where they can stop for restrooms and refueling. Fueling and aid stations were limited, so participants were encouraged to have a team of friends and family members helping them throughout the course if they needed extra assistance.
This year’s run included athletes of all experience levels, from seasoned marathoners to first-time charity runners, all united by a common cause. Along the route, cheering stations, community partners, and spontaneous crowds energized and supported the runners. The event wasn’t just about running; it focused on community connection, perseverance, and demonstrating that together, we can break down barriers to care and fight the stigma surrounding mental health.
Thanks to the dedication of participants and the generosity of donors, the run raised over $6,500 to support MHC’s statewide programs, including:
- Advocacy and Education to lower stigma and promote discussions about mental health.
- The Art of Wellbeing and Creative Programs provide outlets for healing and expression.
- Housing and Recovery Services that offer stability, dignity, and routes to wellness.
- Community Engagement Initiatives bring resources into schools, workplaces, and communities.
Every contribution from this event directly supports MHC’s mission to enhance mental health for all Connecticut residents. The event is only possible because of the runners who pushed their limits, volunteers who kept everything running smoothly, donors who generously contributed, and families and friends who cheered from start to finish.
Although the run has finished, you can still support MHC’s mission and help these essential programs reach more individuals and families. Donate here to continue the impact.
Looking ahead, we are excited to expand the event to help build a stronger, healthier Connecticut. Thank you to everyone who participated, and we hope you’ll join us again in 2026.
