Day #27: Giving Back

Giving Back is a powerful self-care tool. While it may seem to only benefit others, giving back comes full circle. According to the Cleveland Clinic, giving to others is shown to boost your mental and physical health. By volunteering for a good cause, starting a fundraiser, or donating to charity you can reap multiple health benefits including lowering your blood pressure, increasing your self-esteem, decreasing symptoms of depression and stress, increasing the longevity of your lifespan, and creating a feeling of happiness and satisfaction by helping others. “Biologically, giving can create a “warm glow,” activating regions in the brain associated with pleasure, connection with other people and trust. This is the reason why you feel excitement when you’re about to give a gift to someone else (and why you feel close to them during), or why you feel happy driving back from a volunteer experience.”

The mental health benefits of giving are powerful and we wanted to learn how the self-care tool of giving back has impacted our biggest sponsor for #31DaysofWellness. Earlier this month, MHC’s President & CEO, Luis Perez joined ConnectiCare President, Eric Galvin to talk about the self-care tool of Giving Back. Who better to discuss the power of giving than our Double the Impact Sponsor? Watch the below to learn how this generous gift and their 40 years of service to Connecticut residents has made an impact.

#ThankaThonThursday

This #ThankaThonThursday we are extending our most sincere gratitude for ConnectiCare for being our Double the Impact Sponsor. If MHC meets its goal of raising $31,000 by May 31, ConnectiCare will match that amount, dollar for dollar, and double the impact for the MHC@Home Fund. You can help us reach our goal by making a donation today at www.mhconn.org/31k

Time is running out to support our Winter Wellness Campaign! Your donation helps us provide essential mental health resources and expand access to care for individuals in need. Let’s come together to ensure no one has to face winter’s challenges alone.

While our Winter Wellness Campaign is coming to a close, our toolkit will be available on our website all winter long as we continue to embrace warmth, connection, and wellness.

Across the country, nonprofits are being stretched to their limits. But the need? It hasn’t gone anywhere. Your donation today, may be the housing referral that helps someone get through another week. The in-home mental health support that keeps someone safe. The only meal they’ll eat all day. The difference between crisis or care. Every dollar changes lives. Every dollar is a lifeline.

Your donation will enable us to provide mental health services, including therapy, in-home support, and case management, to low-income individuals and individuals experiencing homelessness.
