Help Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) Win $10,000 IMPACT Award Grant!

Contributed by: Brayden Ransom, Communication and Marketing Assistant, Mental Health Connecticut

For the second year in a row, the Red Sox Foundation has named Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) as a finalist eligible to win the $10,000 IMPACT Award grant! The 2021 IMPACT Awards will continue to focus on organizations that have demonstrated deep impact in raising awareness and improving the mental health outcomes of the young adults in their community. We are grateful for the Red Sox Foundation for the opportunity and for choosing to continue to make mental health a priority.

The three eligible charitable organizations in each of the six New England states (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, and, VT) that receive the most votes will receive an IMPACT Award presented by the Ruderman Family Foundation and win either a first place $10,000 grant, second place $3,000 grant, or a third place $2,000 grant. MHC is one of the five finalists in Connecticut eligible to win! Last year MHC was awarded second place and we are ready to knock this out of the park once again!

[su_quote cite=”Jay Ruderman, President of the Ruderman Family Foundation”]“More than a year into the COVID-19 crisis, there is a growing sense that brighter days are ahead from a physical health perspective, in the realm of containing the spread of the virus. Yet the often- overlooked mental health consequences of the pandemic will undoubtedly carry long-term implications across society, including the psychological impact on individuals who remain in isolation or those who are only beginning to transition back to a relatively normal lifestyle…Amid these ongoing challenges, it is essential to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and to recognize the efforts of the organizations which are working tirelessly to carry out that mission in their communities.”[/su_quote]

[su_quote cite=”Luis B. Perez, President and CEO of Mental Health Connecticut”] We are grateful to be nominated once again for an Impact Award from the Red Sox foundation. Out of all the nominations received, the Red Sox Foundation chose MHC as one of the five finalists in Connecticut to be considered for this award. If awarded, the funds from the grant would go to support MHC’s Write On! program for young adults. We are currently expanding this program due to the tremendous outcomes we’ve seen as a result of using writing and storytelling to promote resiliency and defeat self-stigma. [/su_quote]
