Human Services Policy Transition Committee

Last week Governor-Elect Ned Lamont announced that he has created 15 transition committees to provide ideas to his incoming administration on a wide range of policies.

We are excited to share that Governor-Elect Lamont has asked MHC’s President and CEO Luis Perez to serve the State of Connecticut as Co-Chair of the Human Services Policy Transition Committee. Andrea Barton-Reeves, President and CEO of HARC, will join Mr. Perez as Co-Chair of the committee. You may recall that Luis served as co-chair of Governor Malloy’s Cabinet on Non-profit Health and Human Services.

Mr. Perez and Ms. Barton-Reeves are asked to lead a committee that will develop plans for implementation of the Lamont policy platform regarding Human Services. They join more than 30 leaders named to various policy committees. The Committee will provide suggestions regarding the timing of executing on Governor-elect Lamont’s policy agenda, which include identifying key deliverables that are attainable in the first 100 days of the Administration.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 26th, Governor-Elect Lamont is holding a policy summit at Eastern Connecticut State University to kick off the work of the transition teams. The first part of the event, from 11a – 12:30p is open to the public. If you plan to attend, we are told to use the use this address for ECSU: 400 High St., Willimantic, CT 06226. Along with tomorrow’s kick-off, the Committee is currently gathering its members to develop a work plan that will be shared with the Governor-Elect during the first week of January.
