Supported Employment
MHC works with employers and people with mental health conditions to engage them in opportunities to gain competitive employment, work alongside people with and without disabilities, and experience the social, financial and intellectual benefits of employment.

Specifically, MHC’s supported employment programs offer people with mental health conditions with:

  • Pre-employment tasks, such as job searches, resume writing, job application procedures, and interview skills.
  • Learning tasks associated with jobs.
  • Monitoring employment progress.
  • Building natural supports on the job.
  • Negotiating any necessary special accommodations.

Supported Education
MHC offers supported education services through its Lifelong Learning Supported Education (LLSE) program, which are designed to provide the supports that people with mental health conditions may need to earn their high school diplomas, GEDs, certificates of learning and college degrees.

Recovery Resource Center
The Independence Center (IC) offers an environment for individuals to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to achieve their goals, realize recovery and engage in the community. A completely voluntary program, the IC provides a place for people with mental health conditions to access peer supports, participate in health and wellness activities, and develop work and social skills.

Mental Health Waiver
Through the waiver program, the State of Connecticut offers an array of home and community-based services. These services assist Medicaid eligible adults with serious mental health conditions with living successfully in the community and avoiding institutional care. MHC is a state-approved WISE provider offering participants individualized recovery plans that promote health, wellness, recovery and success in the community.

Mental Health Concierge
Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) recognizes the limitations that people with private health insurance may face when trying to access timely and appropriate mental health services. To this end, MHC has created Mental Health Concierge. This unique service offers in-home, one-on-one, community-based rehabilitative services that support and promote recovery and complement services covered by private insurance.

Offered throughout Connecticut, Mental Health Concierge provides a breadth of services and supports for individuals with mental health conditions, including:

  • Maintaining a home,
  • Managing finances,
  • Negotiating external systems of support (physical and behavioral health),
  • Developing community connections,
  • Skill-building, and/or
  • Self-advocating.
