Spending time outdoors is important for ones overall health. Collecting natural Vitamin D from the sun, breathing fresh air, and interacting with others are all great reasons to get outside – but being active while outdoors adds so many more benefits.

Today, a group of 22 gathered to take a hike up Mount Tom’s Tower Trail. Breaking into smaller groups, we all found a pack that matched our own unique pace and comfort level. The weather was beautiful and despite a few bugs and muddy patches on the trail, we could not have asked for a better day to take on this adventure.

The group made it to the top of the trail and some even ventured to the top of the tower for some great views. The afternoon’s hike was full of conversations and positive engagement among a great group of individuals who all chose to gather in support of Mental Health Connecticut.

Following the hike, the group drove to Sunset Meadow Vineyards for a private wine tasting. Learning about the history of the vineyard, the wine making process, and trying their wines was an enjoyable experience. Food was generously donated and the group was able to enjoy the vineyard and each others company for the remainder of the evening.

A prize drawing took place near the close of the event and helped to raise additional funds for MHC. Special thanks to all the donors who provided prizes for this event as well as Sunset Meadow Vineyards for hosting us and providing a generous discount for our group.

This event raised over $1,000 for Mental Health Connecticut and its mission of improving mental health for all Connecticut residents.
