9-8-8 in Connecticut

On Saturday, July 16^th The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) launched a new 3-digit number known as 9-8-8. United Way has worked collaboratively with DMHAS to prepare CT-focused FAQs around the soft launch of 988 – click here to view.

It is important to note that in the state of Connecticut, the United Way of Connecticut/211 (UWC) Health and Human Services Contact Center is the only provider answering calls for the NSPL/988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. The 800 line and 211 will not go away in the event people need to call and aren’t familiar yet with 988.
