This afternoon, MHC’s Suzi Craig joined Layshia Claredon, Connecticut Sun Guard on Connecticut Style Live on ABC. The Connecticut Sun has chosen to MHC for their community spotlight for their Home Opener game on Saturday, May 25. Tickets are still available at www.mhconn.org/ctsun.

We are truly honored to be in the spotlight this weekend and had so much fun talking with Layshia today. She is one of the most outspoken players in the WNBA and we applaud her perspective on whole health.

“It’s important to have a holistic approach to our health and particularly as athletes, we very much compartmentalize our physical health. We don’t talk enough about our mental health and we’ve seen some NBA partners ,like Kevin Love, start to talk more about how important it is to approach our mental health. For me, I see someone regularly, and people are like “are you ok” and I’m like, “yeah I’m taking care of my body.” No one asks you when you go to the gym “are you ok” its like, “oh you’re working out, you’re staying fit.” I’m just trying to break that stigma and the shame around mental health and realize its just a part of taking care of your entire being and who you are.” – Layshia Claredon
